If you’re getting your windows replaced for the first time, being worried about how your window contractor will handle your property is understandable. At Renewal by Andersen® of Boise, we take pride in how we do this job. We answer some of your frequently asked questions here.
Are Window Replacement Projects Messy?
Home improvements are generally messy. Fortunately, window replacement is not as messy as roof replacements or home additions. During installation, expect installers going back and forth through the areas where the windows will be installed. There will be some dust and debris as the old windows are removed from the wall framing and some hammering and drilling as the window frames are fastened to the wall, and there may be some odors from curing caulk and spray foam. Our installers at Renewal by Andersen will make sure that we make as little mess as possible while we install your new windows.
How Do You Contain the Mess?
The most important feature of our installation process is that we remove and replace windows one at a time. This helps reduce heat leaks that can affect your home’s energy consumption for the day. More importantly, it helps contain the dust and dirt to areas that are being worked on, making them easier to clean. A two-man team working on both sides of the exterior wall helps ensure a quick installation while helping minimize dirt being tracked into the house.
How Do I Prepare My Home?
The only areas that will be affected by our window replacement service during installation are the exterior walls. We ask our clients to remove hanging décor, framed art or racks with wine or glasses from these walls. Furniture should also be moved about six feet away from these walls to allow room for movement around the installation areas and to avoid accidental damage to items in your home. Our team will coordinate with you with anything else that may need to be prepared or moved out of the way prior to installation date.
What Happens After You Finish Installation?
After installation, every replacement window undergoes a strict and thorough quality inspection. We also encourage our clients to inspect the windows and the workmanship themselves during this time. Installation issues found at this time will be corrected before installation is complete. We will then finish cleaning up all the affected areas. Our team is so thorough that we’ve been complimented by clients on how we left their homes cleaner than when they arrived. Lastly, we will take the old windows with us for proper disposal.
